Aaliyah Dana Haughton came into the limelight in 1994 when she released her debut Album Age Ain't Nothing But A Number. The album, launched when she was only fifteen years old, went Gold. The collaboration was heavily in the style of R. Kelly, and made her a star in the spotlight. In 1996 she worked with Jermaine Dupri as well as Timbaland to record her follow-up album One In A Million which included the top-rated hit song If You Only Knew. The second album of Aaliyah, One in a Million, was released in 1996. It featured the top smash single, If Your Girl Only Knew. She starred with the martial arts legend Jet Li in the 2000 romance-action film Romeo Must Die. She got this role following an interview with the film's director Joel Silver at an awards event. In 2002, she was able to play the film vampire Queen of the Damned which was inspired by the Anne Rice novel. After that, she entered the Matrix in the form of Zee on The Matrix Sequels having also appeared in The Matrix Reloaded in 2003 as well as The Matrix Revolutions in the same year. In addition, she has appeared in advertisements for major companies like the international auto manufacturer Volvo. She continues her acting career at Los Angeles, where she lives with her son and husband.
