Aaliyah Dana Haughton and Aarti Mann

Aaliyah Daniel Haughton exploded into fame in 1994 when she released the release of her first album Age Ain't Anything But a Numer. It was Gold at the age of just 15 years old. It was done as part of a group that was greatly inspired by R. Kelly and it brought her into the spotlight. In 1996, she teamed up with Jermaine Dpri as well as Timbaland in her album, One In A Million, that included the top-selling song If Your Girl only knew. Aaliyah became a well-known R&B singer after the album's release. In 2000 she starred in the romantic action movie Romeo Must Die alongside martial arts legend Jet-Li. Joel Silver, film producer and director of Romeo Must Die spotted her at an award ceremony. She was a part of the film based on Anne Rice, a vampire movie Queen of the Damned, which came out in 2002. She is an Indian-American of first generation of origin born in Connecticut. Mann, her stage name is an abbreviation for Mankad which is her name as a married surname. Aarti uses both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn for her professional names. Her acting career began in minor film and TV roles, but her popularity was growing in the late 2000s. Her other notable projects include Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The commercials she has done have been for prominent brands like Volvo. She currently lives with her family in Los Angeles along with her husband, daughter and pursues her acting career.
